Nintendo Reveals Zelda & Loftwing Amiibo for Skyward Sword HD

Who says Skyward Sword can’t have fast travel?

A brand new Zelda & Loftwing amiibo is flying onto store shelves this July and is set to release the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. For those planning to play Skyward Sword HD, the amiibo offers a fun, useful quality of life (QOL) feature when used in conjunction with the game. It also serves as a nice collectible item.

Nintendo Reveals Zelda & Loftwing Amiibo for Skyward Sword HD

Attention amiibo collectors, Nintendo revealed a brand new amiibo that unlocks a special feature in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. The amiibo is called “Zelda & Loftwing” and shows Princess Zelda looking up cheerfully at the Loftwing beside her.

As lovely as the amiibo is to look at, it can also be used with Skyward Sword HD to unlock “fast travel” in the game. When you use the Zelda & Loftwing while “adventuring on the surface” in Skyward Sword HD, you’ll be able to quickly return to the sky.

In addition, you can use the amiibo while you’re in the sky to “return to the spot you first used the amiibo on the surface” according to the video from Nintendo. It’s noted you can do this while you’re in dungeons on the surface, and in buildings in the sky.

“Normally, you can only return from the surface to the sky by way of designated save points, but using the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo while on the surface in the game will allow you to return to the skies from anywhere on the surface, even inside dungeons,” a news post from Nintendo reads

For those who intend to play Skyward Sword HD, having this amiibo will make exploration in the game a lot easier, that’s for sure. Even better is the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo is set to release the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD on July 16!

After doing some digging, it doesn’t seem like the amiibo is available for pre-order just yet, though you can pre-order The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD right now if you haven’t done so already.

“The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD game launches on Friday, July 16th. Pre-order the game today on Nintendo.com or Nintendo eShop!

In addition to the game and Zelda & Loftwing amiibo figure, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Edition Joy-Con controllers will also release on July 16 (sold separately).

The right Joy-Con controller is themed after the Master Sword, while the left features a Hylian Shield motif.”

So, to quickly recap, the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo will release the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD on July 16. When used with the game, it’ll allow you to fast travel between the surface and the sky with ease.

It’s also a beautiful amiibo from a collector’s standpoint, and we have no doubt that it’ll look great when displayed next to other Legend of Zelda amiibos and collectibles.

Keep an eye out for the amiibo on July 16, and stay tuned for more Skyward Sword HD coverage here at Prima Games!
