Destiny 2 Hunter Revenant: Everything You Need to Know

The Stasis Ninja.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s finally time for the third subclass to get its full reveal. After covering the Warlock Shadebinder and the Titan Behemoth, we’re here with a rundown for what to expect from the Hunter Revenant. As a reminder, these new subclasses are coming to Destiny 2 when Beyond Light launches in November, and are related to the new Stasis element. While the Shadebinder was about freezing enemies and the Behemoth is about manipulating the environment (and punchin’), the Revenant is based on the RPG “Ninja” trope, and uses weapons like shuriken and kama to slow down enemies.

The Hunter Revenant’s melee attack is called Withering Blade, and it’s a ranged attack with a Stasis-attuned shuriken. This weapon will ricochet off of enemies and the environment, doing damage and inflicting slow. If you hit the same enemy with two shuriken, it will be instantly Frozen, which can help your team members get the Shatter kill.

Silence and Squall is the Hunter Revenant’s Super ability. For this ranged attack the Hunter Revenant produces and throws two kama blades, each with a distinct effect. The first blade is an area of effect explosion that freezes enemies caught in the blast. The second blade will latch onto whatever it hits (enemy or surface) and explode after a moment. This explosion causes a Statis storm, which will track enemies, as well as slow and damage any foe that touches it.

The Aspects and Fragments available to the Hunter Revenant all work to enhance its slowing and freezing abilities, and in some cases even give it the opportunity to Shatter enemies it freezes. Bungie also detailed the three new types of grenades the Stasis subclasses will have access to which you can check the official details out right here:

  • Glacier Grenade – Upon contact with the ground, a wall of Stasis crystals instantly burst from the earth and nearby enemies are frozen inside Stasis crystal. These grenades have multiple uses – from encasing enemies to creating cover. When destroyed, the crystals will create AoE burst damage to nearby enemies.
  • Coldsnap Grenade – Upon impact with the ground or an enemy, this grenade unleashes a wave of Stasis energy that races along the ground in the direction of the closest nearby enemy, freezing them and then searching out the next nearby foe. You can freeze up to three enemies with a single Coldsnap Grenade.
  • Duskfield Grenade – Duskfield Grenades create powerful Stasis fields that suck enemies into them when forming. Once an enemy is caught inside, they will be slowed and, if unable to make it out in time, frozen in place.

And that’s a wrap for the Stasis subclasses coming to Destiny 2 when Beyond Light launches. Stasis is going to be a pretty big deal it seems, with each subclass having powerful abilities that allow players to really manipulate the space around them. It’s a fresh-feeling approach to the regular Destiny 2 loop, that’s for sure.
