The Big N announced that a plethora of Super Mario nostalgic adventures are coming to the Nintendo Switch, including Super Mario Sunshine, but our favorite plumber is also making his way over into the world of Animal Crossing as well with a New Horizons crossover.
Nintendo is adding special Super Mario flair to the game by way of new furniture designs coming up next March. Both character-inspired and some inspired by in-game levels, we don’t know much about what the new Animal Crossing: New Horizons Super Mario crossover will look like other than those bare details, but at least we know it’s coming!
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has done an amazing job with various events and game updates since it launched earlier this year. From holiday-inspired additions to new in-game events, New Horizons has continued to evolve in a way that is organic and beloved by all. Now that Nintendo has revealed the big way they are celebrating the Mario franchise’s 35th anniversary, they are looking to continue on that evolution in a way that is making people extremely excited.
It’s possible this crossover will offer more than just furniture: new characters, themed balloons, new DIY recipes, and some cool architecture additions would be pretty cool too. Wouldn’t it be awesome that instead of having to build a bridge, you could travel to the other side of your island via tunnel instead?! We’re just saying; missed opportunity if that doesn’t happen.

Now all we need now is a Metroid crossover and some Legend of Zelda goodness and we’ll be set. The sky really is the limit when it comes to how many crossovers Nintendo can do with Animal Crossing: New Horizons; there are so many beloved franchises to choose from!
