The Destiny 2 Ruinous Effigy weapon is one of the newest in the game and can be earned as a reward by completing the Missive quest. This weapon is a powerful exotic Trace Rifle that is capable of turning enemies into “void transmutation spheres,” which can then be picked up and used as weapons. So, to say it is a cool weapon would be an understatement. With that, here’s how to get Ruinous Effigy in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 Ruinous Effigy – How to Get

To accept the Missive quest and get the Ruinous Effigy weapon in Destiny 2, players will need to head to the Annex and interact with the Prismatic Recaster. Once there, players can accept the Missive quest and begin completing it. In the list below, you’ll find all of the quest steps that players will need to complete to get the weapon. As you can see, these won’t be too difficult and shouldn’t take you too long to finish.

  1. Weekly Interference Mission – Complete the weekly mission quest and then the Interference quest on Io
  2. Find 25 Calcified Light Fragments – Located on Io, Mars, Titan, and Mercury
  3. Defeat 15 Savathun Marionettes – Play Contact Public Events
  4. Get 25 Precision Multi-Kills, 100 Void Kills, and 18 Completion Points – Play Gambit or Reckoning

Once you’ve finished the last quest step, head back to the Prismatic Recaster to claim your Destiny 2 Ruinous Effigy weapon. As we mentioned above, the weapon has some pretty cool perks that will make it fairly unique compared to others. The Transmutation perk will turn enemies into void spheres while the Evolution perk will allow players to pick up the voided enemies and use them as weapons. Lastly, the weapon clip can hold 94 shots and is capable of shooting 1,000 rounds a minute.

There is also a Catalyst available for the weapon, which players can earn by destroying the Savathun’s Eyes that have been appearing all over the place since the beginning of the Season of Arrivals. Up to this point, there wasn’t a weapon that could destroy them, but it seems that the Destiny 2 Ruinous Effigy will be able to destroy them. Further, players can also earn the Catalyst by killing 5,000 enemies with the weapon.

The Destiny 2 Season of Arrivals is the final season before the Beyond Light expansion launches this September. If you haven’t been keeping up with the game for a while, Bungie has revealed that it will be supporting the game through 2022 with three new expansions. This means that Destiny 2 will be making its way to next-gen consoles and will support cross-generational play.

If you’ve already grabbed the Ruinous Effigy, there is still plenty of stuff to do in the game. In the links below, you’ll find some of our recent coverage that should help get you started.
