If you’re looking forward to the PlayStation 5 then you’re definitely not alone. The fires of the console war have been ignited for months now, and you might be one of the few wondering when exactly things like the PlayStation 5 pre-orders will be made available to the public, especially during the strange circumstances that we’re all finding ourselves in now. Here’s what we know.
PlayStation 5 Pre-Order – What We Know
If you’ve been keeping up with all the developments to do with the PlayStation 5, you’ll already be well into the enthusiasm after the DualSense debate and discourse that’s been popping up all over the internet. Now that we’re a little bit further into the year, people are getting curious about how the PlayStation 5 pre-order process is going to work. While Sony has yet to confirm proceedings, we can probably hazard a guess as to a number of factors to do with the upcoming console, including when we reckon everything will be available for us to snap up.
We know that the release date is Holiday 2020, and that we can probably project that we might be seeing the PlayStation 5 around the November period this year if we’re looking at past trends. We also know that there’s going to be backwards compatibility with PlayStation 4 games, particularly with the most popular titles of this current console generation, and we also know a fair amount about the hardware specifics of this upcoming console. We actually had a pretty handy breakdown of the PlayStation 5 specifications versus the Xbox Series X’s specifications over here if you’re wanting some of the basics as a primer.
While we currently don’t have a set price, we aren’t too surprised about that. There have been questions around whether or not preorders will be soon to follow after the DualSense announcement, and we honestly think it might be a good move to announce early while the buzz is still pretty high with the PlayStation 5. As of now, you are unable to place any orders for the PlayStation 5, but it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for this to be available when the months of June and July roll around just based on what was marketed for the PS4. We’re sure that there will be launch title exclusive bundles as well that will be a part of this marketing campaign, but sadly, we don’t think any of them will include The Last of Us 2 since it’s now been removed from the PlayStation store.
Now that you know a little bit more about how the PlayStation 5 pre-order process is going to work, hopefully things are going to run on schedule and we’ll all be able to luck out with our consoles when we finally get there. While we have no firm indication on how much everything is going to cost yet, the fact that we’ve got the DualSense confirmed in the way that it has should mean that other announcements will be soon to follow.
