Netflix’s The Witcher Season 2 Delayed Due to Coronavirus Concerns

Another one bites the temporary dust, this time it's Netflix's The Witcher series.

With a good portion of the cast confirmed for Netflix’s The Witcher season 2, production was set to begin here shortly. Unfortunately, COVID-19 concerns have reached an all-new level as travel bans and other restrictions have been put in place in an effort to prevent the continued spread of the latest Coronavirus strain. Because of those restrictions, production on Netflix’s The Witcher season 2 has been put on hold.

At this time, the hold is only for two weeks. According to a statement provided to Deadline, this decision was made “to allow everyone the time to make informed decisions about how to move forward.” Whether that means they will pick up in 2 weeks or be put on an indefinite hold remains to be seen, but this is not the only show or film that has been impacted by the continued spread so for those hoping to see the new season sooner rather than later, prepare for a bigger delay announcement to be on the horizon.

Given that the show’s second season wasn’t slated until holiday 2021, it is possible that the release date window could remain the same depending on how quickly they can get back on schedule. That being said, the health and safety for all involved is more important and we’re glad to see them taking any sort of preventative measures that they see fit.

Haven’t had a chance to check out The Witcher Netflix series yet for its first season? Want to watch so you can understand all of the seemingly weird memes out there surrounding the “Hmm” show? Then make sure to check it out on Netflix now! Even if season 2 is seeing some setbacks, the first season is phenomenal!
