If you’ve been enjoying your time with Pokemon Sword and Shield, you might be wanting to know how you can up the ante a little. Those after the elusive Mew this generation will already be familiar with how useful it can be to have the Pokeball Plus, but it’s good for more than just that. Here’s our guide on what you can do with the Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokeball Plus.
Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokeball Plus – How to Use This
First things first, if your previous experience with the Pokeball Plus was all to do with Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! then we’re gonna get one thing straight: you can’t use it as a controller this time. However, you can use it to take your Pokemon for a little jaunt with you while you’re out and about and away from your Switch. We’ve already mentioned that you can use your Pokeball Plus to obtain Mew in Pokemon Sword and Shield, and this is the only way that you’re going to be able to get that Pokemon. We’ve got a separate guide for that floating around too. In general, though, the main function of the Pokeball will be to take your prized pocket monsters for walks.
For first-timers, putting a Pokemon into the ball doesn’t remove it from your game. To take your Pokemon for a walk, make sure that the Pokeball Plus is connected to your Switch. Once you’ve done this, navigate to the Mystery Gift option in the game’s menu, and to Take Your Pokemon for a Stroll. You’ll then be able to select which lucky animal gets to hang out with you first. In this state, you can put your Pokeball Plus into play mode, and if you’ve connected your ball to Pokemon Go, you’re going to be able to get bonuses based on your performance in that app. You can get the following rewards from using your Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokeball Plus:
- Poke Ball
- Great Ball
- Rare Candy
- Star Piece
- Ultra Ball
