Playtonic Shuts Down New Banjo-Kazooie Rumors With New Statement

No, Playtonic isn't making a new Banjo-Kazooie no matter how much they want to.
This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

The rumor mill has been in full swing lately regarding a potential new Banjo-Kazooie game. While this would be absolutely amazing, it’s also absolutely false and the studio behind our favorite furball, Playtonic, wanted to clear the air with a brand new statement.

The studio took to Twitter to release a new statement regarding the rumors, saying “We wanted to address the speculation currently swarming our mentions. We hate to be the bearers of news that isn’t what you want to hear, but we thought it best to come out and say – we aren’t working on a new Banjo-Kazooie game and we remain an independent studio.”

They then added, “While we would love to work with the bear and bird again, that ball isn’t in our court. With that said, we are keen to progressing as a studio, carrying the experience of games we worked on, old and new, to create new characters and adventures for you to (hopefully) love.

“We’re sorry if this isn’t what you wanted to hear from us. At first, we found it amusing that Ed Bryan’s bag is being used as serious ‘evidence,’ but we reckon it wouldn’t be fair if we didn’t set the record straight.”

There you have it, straight from the horses, er … the company’s mouth. While it’s sad to see that we won’t be getting a new Banjo adventure anytime soon, the clarification is most welcome in a sea of rumors and false leaks. Who knows, maybe the future will be bright regarding whose court the ball is actually in, but for now – we must just content ourselves with the knowledge that they are working on something new and we have our memories of Banjo to keep us comfy until anything new happens with that particular franchise.

Are you saddened by the debunk or is it good to just let the Banjo-Kazooie series rest? That, or is this duos presence in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate enough to tide the community over? Hit us up with your thoughts over on Twitter @PrimaGames
