Utah Jazz’s Rudy Gobert is an absolute beast when it comes to the basketball court and now he’s bringing that same energy into the world of esports as the latest investor to join the ReKT Global initiative.
The 7-foot powerhouse currently running center for the Utah Jazz basketball team and has had an incredible career since he made his first draft pick back in 2013. Since then, he’s gone on to win numerous awards and now he’s bringing that same winning attitude to the team at ReKT as they continue to expand out in the esports space.
“Rudy’s a phenomenal fit for ReKTGlobal,” raved Amish Shah, co-founder of ReKTGlobal. “A passionate and longtime gamer, Rudy also brings a strong business acumen and fresh ideas to the table. As he’s been wanting to invest in esports and get more involved in the gaming industry, we are honored that he selected ReKTGlobal to partner with, and we are excited to have him on board as our first traditional professional sports athlete.”
Gobert himself seems elated with his latest investment as he opens up about what esports means to him and the potential for growth:
“My passion for gaming is well-known among both the Utah Jazz and my team in France. I’ve wanted to invest in and get more involved in esports for a while, and I’m really excited to make history with the ReKTGlobal family,” commented Gobert. “For years now, I’ve used gaming to unwind and relax during the season. It’s also how I manage to keep up with my friends when I’m on the road. I’m especially looking forward to playing with the new Call of Duty franchise team before they begin competing next year.”
ReKT Global was first founded in 2016 and since its birth has gone on to make incredible leaps and bounds when it comes to bridging the gap between traditional sports and the burgeoning esports. ReKT is also the parent company to Rogue, a name that is well-known in esports with their presence in League of Legends, Fortnite, and FIFA.
Where ReKT will go from here is anyone’s guess, but the company has certainly proven it knows what it takes to succeed, thrive, and wow the world of competitive epsorts.
