Just hopped back into Destiny 2 after some time away because you’re excited about Shadowkeep dropping on 1 October? Got some catching up to do in terms of Light levels and general questing shenanigans that you’ve missed out on? For those who may have been looking forward to the Destiny 2 Drifter Allegiance questline, you might be wondering what’s happened to the Drifter / Vanguard rivalry now that the Season of Opulence has kicked in. If you’re curious, then read on.
Destiny 2 Drifter Allegiance Guide: What Did It Give You?
For those in the know, you might already have poured one out for the Season of the Drifter content. If you’re a returning player wondering what the status quo has been with the Drifter versus Vanguard Allegiance squabble, then we regret to inform you that the Destiny 2 Drifter Allegiance quest line has been discontinued. As we moved into the Season of Opulence, us Guardians have become much more preoccupied with the squabbles and the demands of Emperor Calus. If you were previously someone who was siding with the Drifter during his namesake season, then you’d have received the following from week to week rewards after each rest:
- One of each Gambit Prime Synth
- 100 Infamy points
- Gambit gear
If you were someone who fancied yourself on the side of the Vanguard, then you’d have received something a little similar:
- 10 Vanguard Tactician tokens
- Enhancement core
- Boon of the Vanguard — this would grant extra tokens in strikes
- Gambit gear
Whether you decided to throw your lot in with the Vanguard or the mysterious Drifter himself, you’d have been duly rewarded for your loyalty. On top of the gear rewards, you’d also have been able to net some valuable lore insight on both parties, and your allegiance choice could vary from character to character so you could easily experience both storylines if you chose to on alts.
While the Destiny 2 Drifter Allegiance questline is no longer with us, now is a good time to turn your eyes towards the stuff that the Season of Opulence has to offer before everyone’s days are consumed by Shadowkeep from October. There’s still plenty to do in the Menagerie, not to mention the Moments of Triumph that some of us are still working our way through — bless Bungie for extending their completion deadline.
