We’re definitely starting to find our way into Destiny 2 Shadowkeep territory, as the first of the many pre-launch changes to come have already begun to roll out onto the live servers for Guardians everywhere. However, life goes on, and that includes the Destiny 2 Ascendant Challenges that are still a valuable way to acquire gear and rewards for those who are a little behind the curve. Check out our guide to this week’s challenge if you’re unsure about where to start.
Destiny 2 Ascendant Challenge Guide — Quest Location
In order to make sure that you get a start on the most recent Ascendant challenge, you’ll have to do the usual and make sure that you pick up the necessary bounty from the Dreaming City. You’ll also have to get your hands on a Tincture of Queensfoil, which is what will enable you to actually detect the Taken portals that you’ll have to traverse in order to reach the location where the challenge is being held.
While last week had you heading over to Aphelion’s Rest, things are a little different this time. You’re going to want to make sure that you’re hovering around the general area of the Garden of Esila before you drink the Tincture, which should reveal a Taken portal somewhere at the furthest southern tip of the map. Once you enter the portal, you’ll be thrown out in the Ascendant Plane by the Forfeit Shrine.
Destiny 2 Ascendant Challenge Guide — Tips and Tricks
Now that you’ve touched down by the Forfeit Shrine, your Ascendant challenge will begin in earnest. You’re going to have to fetch three different Arc Charges from the location around you and deposit them in a golden well near the ball of Blight close to where the portal spat you out. During this mini fetch quest, we would advise that your focus is on ferrying the Arc Charges around instead of trying to deal with the Taken. Just try and stay out of their way for now.
Once you’ve successfully put all three Arc Charges back, you’ll be empowered. This will make taking out those pesky Taken (pardon the pun) much easier than before, which is why our recommendation would be to essentially duck and weave your way to getting this damage buff. After you’re absolutely wiped the floor with the foes around you, you can complete the challenge and its associated bounty. Getting the bounty will be another way for you to obtain Powerful gear, so if babysitting the Arc Charges sounds like it’s too difficult for a one-person job, feel free to rustle up some other Guardians to make the time go by quicker.
