E3 2019 is less than a month away and Microsoft has promised their “biggest show yet.” With hardware news, more studio acquisitions, and new games, it’s going to be an exciting time for Xbox fans. That being said, the leaks have already begun ahead of their showcase, the latest centered around Gears 5 and what the next entry will have to offer.
The leak appears to be a Microsoft document, though it’s simplistic enough where it’s important to take the information with a grain of salt. Still, the 4K and 60 FPS is enticing in addition to the open-world aspects seen detailed below:
We already knew what the premise would be from last year with Kait featured front and center, but the additional visual showcase notes makes us even more excited to see new gameplay. “The world is crumbling,” reads the description. “Humanity’s reliance on technology has become their downfall and enemies are uniting to wipe out all survivors. As Kait, you must journey across the biggest, most beautiful Gears world to uncover the origins of the Locust, and fight with your squad to protect what’s left.”
From the ability to play with friends, to the return of split-screen, it looks like Gears 5 – despite the name change – will be an unforgettable ride for longtime Gears of War fans, as well as newcomers to the franchise.
We’ll be learning soon enough because Microsoft’s showcase kicks off on June 9th at 12 PM PST.
