During Sony’s most recent State of Play, they kicked off their showcase with our first look at gameplay for the upcoming Monster Hunter: World expansion Iceborne. As the name implies, there is a lot of ice and a lot of reasons to stay inside, so hope you like the cold because this new adventure is about to get frosty.

According to Capcom about their latest expansion, “The Iceborne expansion builds on every aspect of Monster Hunter: World, starting with an all-new story that picks up after the main game and whisks hunters away to a newly discovered chilly locale called Hoarfrost Reach. The snow-covered terrain offers an ecosystem that contrasts areas in the main game and progressively expands with the story. Iceborne is set to offer the largest region in the game so far, presenting hunters a wealth of new content with even more quests to face than in the original release.”

A new higher level difficulty Master Rank is also introduced, making the challenging experience even more so. There will also be a new flagship monster Velkhana, an elder dragon that players will face that takes the ice around him and using it to his utmost advantage.

The above gameplay shows off powerful new foes, epic takedowns, and even more of what Iceborne has to offer when it makes its Xbox One and PlayStation 4 debut on September 6. A PC release is also in the cards, but not until sometime this Winter.
