This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Far Cry isn’t the only series to hide secret endings near the beginning of their games, and players have quickly discovered that Devil May Cry 5 has snuck in one of its own. If you’re looking to 100% DMC5, this ending is one you’ll definitely want to earn as it’ll snag you the Well I’ll Be Damned achievement/trophy. In this guide we’ll take you through how to unlock Devil May Cry 5’s secret ending.

To discover Devil May Cry 5’ secret ending you’ll need to head all the way back to the very beginning of the game. Yes, that means you’ll need to take on and win the Prologue fight against Urizen. When you first play DMC5, this battle will appear to be impossible, and that’s absolutely by design. Capcom wants you to lose this battle in order for the rest of the story to play out. However, it can be done.

Trying to take on Urizen from scratch isn’t a great idea, so we recommend returning to this fight after beating the game at least once. As you progress through the game you’ll unlock more skills and Devil Breakers for Nero, beefing up his power significantly. You can even unlock Infinite Devil Breakers that’ll make the fight much easier. Once you’ve secured some perks for the fight, return to the prologue and try it again. We’d recommend completing the game at least once first, but you can return at pretty much any time.

It’s also worth noting that the achievement can be earned no matter the difficulty, so feel free to drop it down to Human before attempting this. It’s still a tough fight though, with Urizen dealing an awful lot of damage. Make sure you practice your dodging skills first.

To take down Urizen, you’ll want to make use of Nero’s Blue Rose. Deal damage from a distance and you’ll eventually cause Urizen to lower his shields. The second that happens, dive in close and start dishing out some damage with Devil Breakers and your Red Queen. When Urizen puts his shields back up, fall back again and use Blue Rose. It’s a slow, sluggish process, but follow it through and you’ll eventually take him down and earn Devil May Cry 5’s Secret Ending and the Well I’ll Be Damned achievement.
