How to Unlock Ken

Unlocking Ken isn’t that difficult, though it will require a fair bit of time invested into Smash Ultimate’s Classic Mode. Of course, you could always spend an eternity playing through Classic Mode without any idea of what you need to do to unlock Ken, which is why we’ve done the leg work for you and will show you everything you need to know to get your hands on this iconic character.

In order to unlock Ken you’re going to need to beat Classic Mode using Chrom, one of the new characters available in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. If you haven’t unlocked Chrom just yet, then you will need to complete Classic Mode a good few times using other characters. Here’s the unlock path you’ll need to follow to unlock Ken.

First, complete Classic Mode using Yoshi in order to unlock Lucario. With Lucario unlocked, you can now replay through Classic Mode using Lucario to unlock Marth.

Now that you’ve unlocked Marth, replay Classic Mode using Marth to unlock Ryu. You can now replay Classic Mode using Ryu to unlock Ganondorf, putting you one step closer to your goal.

Now that you’ve unlocked Ganondorf, replay Classic Mode using Ganondorf to unlock Lucina, allowing you to replay and unlock Ridley.

Finally, use Ridley to replace Classic Mode and unlock Chrom. With Chrom unlocked, replay Classic Mode for a final time to unlock Ken.

Once you’ve completed Classic Mode with Chrom, Ken will approach you as a challenger, and you can complete your fight with him to unlock Ken. If you happen to lose the fight, you can always rematch challengers quite easily, or head over to our Super Smash Bros. Ultimate guides for more help with the latest Nintendo brawler.
