Sony has pumped the brakes on the February 2019 release date for the open-world survival game Days Gone, which is now delayed by another two months to April 2019. Sony Interactive Entertainment America’s vice president of marketing Asad Qizilbash announced the release date change today in a post over on the PlayStation Blog, stating that the developers would like more time to polish the game ahead of release.

“We want to share a change in release date for this highly anticipated title from Bend Studio,” says the blog post. “We recently decided to move the release of Days Gone from the crowded February timeframe to April 26, 2019. While the studio is eager to see Days Gone in the hands of fans, Bend Studio will take the opportunity to further polish Days Gone.”

This is not the first time that Days Gone has been delayed. The zombie-filled PlayStation 4 exclusive was first delayed back in March, when Sony announced that the game wouldn’t release until the following year.

The delay doesn’t come as much of a surprise, considering how many games are scheduled to launch around the same time. With games like Anthem and Metro: Exodus slated for a February 2019 release, it’s no wonder that Sony would want to push back Days Gone in a year that is already being frontloaded with open-world games. Besides, a bit of extra time to polish up the game can’t hurt.

We’ll be sure to have more updates on Days Gone in the months ahead. Until then, check out our Days Gone preview to learn more about the game.
