Exclusive: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 will be ‘Bigger’ than Previous Entries & Switch 2 Release Possible

The world of Dragon Ball has grown exponentially since the series first debuted in the 1980’s, making waves in the world of anime, comics, TCG, and video games, and Xenoverse 3 could be the biggest of them all when it comes to the latter.

A decade since the last entry in the series, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is slated for release at some point next year, and fans can expect a larger world to explore, packed with content that fans can lose themselves in.

That growth is something Xenoverse fans have gotten used to, with the world of Xenoverse 2 seven times larger than the original game, and when I asked Masayuki Hirano what fans can expect this time around, he kept things more coy than he did all those years ago.

“I remember saying that about the last game. We haven’t measured it yet, but let’s say bigger.”

Bigger doesn’t always mean better, but fans will certainly be trusting given the success of the previous titles, which does, of course, set a high bar.

There’s larger creative freedom to explore here, and Hirano is hopeful of attracting new players to the series.

“We want the new players to try Xenoverse 3 and experience the Dragon Ball world that you can only experience through this game.”

With releases planned across PC, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X|S, there’s a wide player base to attract, though there’s currently one notable omission.

Nintendo Switch players saw a Xenoverse 2 release date just under a year later than other platforms, and when I asked whether Switch 2 players will be able to jump in, Hirano left the door open.

“We want to think about it, but at the moment we only have plans for PS5, Xbox and PC.”

While far from a definitive answer, there’s certainly a chance, but there will likely be a similar delay this time around, too.
