How to Get Copper Ores and Copper Ingots in Windrose
Give copper some love.
Copper Ores or Copper Ingots are one of the most useful resources in Windrose. They are used practically everywhere, such as tools, buildings, weapons, upgrades, storage, ship tools, and more, so you need a lot of them at all times.
Here’s the best place to get Copper Ores and Copper Ingots in Windrose, so you don’t have to waste time always looking for them.
Where to Get Copper Ores in Windrose
To get Copper Ores, there should be a cave located on your starting island. If you look at the map above, there’s a Copper Deposit icon on the map, but it should look like a question mark icon before you enter, which should be part of the early quest.
Once you reach the cave area, the entrance should be around the center. Sometimes it only looks like a tiny slit, so make sure to look for anything interactable.
Once inside, it should only have around two or three paths, all leading to a dead end eventually. Look for rocks and use a Stone Pickaxe to break them. If you don’t see any Copper Ores, break through the Waste Rocks first, and you should either find a way forward or more Copper Ores. Don’t stop breaking those Waste Rocks.
This is one reason some players might not find many Copper Ores. You can actually get up to at least 20 stacks or 450-500 Copper Ores in one cave run.
It is also worth noting that if you enter the cave at late noon, dusk, or night, it is completely dark. But the cave should still be perfectly safe as long as you can navigate around. If you need light, you can craft a Lamp at the workbench and repair it to restore its light.
If you enter the cave in the morning, it is oddly bright, which is weird because it is a cave, after all.
How to Get Copper Ingots in Windrose
Once you have the Copper Ores, it is time to smelt them into Copper Ingots. Go to the build menu and look for the Refining section in the Crafting & Utilities tab. Craft a Charcoal Kiln, which requires 25x Wood and 20x Clay.
Next, craft a Smelting Furnace with 15x Clay and 30x Stone. Place them in your base, preferably not too far from your shelter. Interact with the Charcoal Kiln and start creating some Charcoal using Wood.
After getting Charcoal, use the Smelting Furnace to make Copper Ingots. One Copper Ingot needs 4x Copper Ores and 1x Charcoal. This might take a while at the start because you also need to wait for the Charcoal Kiln to produce enough Charcoal first.
