How to Sleep in State of Decay 2

Before you can sleep in State of Decay 2, you will need to find somewhere to hit the hay. Early in the game, you learn how to build a home base with a number of facilities attached. There are several other home base locations you can claim throughout Drucker County and beyond, and some of these bases come with their own existing beds for your survivors to sleep in. If you have the space and resources available at your base, consider adding Outdoor Beds, Sheltered Beds, or Barracks to your home base so that your survivors have somewhere to sleep.

State of Decay 2 How to Sleep or Rest

You’ll know it’s time for your survivor to sleep when a small “ZZZ” appears over a grey section of the stamina bar in the lower left corner. Your character will lose stamina as they become more fatigued. While coffee can provide a temporary fix, a good night’s sleep should really do the trick. However, another survivor will have to take over for you while your current survivor sleeps.

Follow the steps below to find out how to sleep in State of Decay 2:

  1. Locate one of the beds in your home base or in an outpost.
  2. Interact with the bed to bring up its menu.
  3. Select the Actions icon.
  4. On the next screen, choose a survivor to play as while your character sleeps.

You will have to play as a different character while your sleepy survivor gets some rest. It’s best to level up multiple characters at once so that they level up evenly and you always have a character ready when you need to swap them out. Sleep allows a survivor to recover from fatigue and trauma while regaining Health.

If your survivor becomes fatigued and there are no beds available, then you can opt to craft some coffee in the Kitchen of your home base or outpost to briefly boost your stamina. However, the caffeine wares off quick, so this is just a temporary fix until your character can find a place to sleep.
