Monster Hunter: World Gets Kulve Taroth Siege Event

You'll need to squad up with 16 players to slay this Elder Dragon in Monster Hunter: World.

Earlier today, Capcom announced the next limited-time event headed to Monster Hunter World. Players can prepare to hunt and take down the majestic Kulve Taroth in a new multiplayer Siege event that begins tomorrow, April 18. To coincide with the special Elder Dragon Siege event, players can also equip a new Layered Armor Set to alter their character’s appearance.

Kulve Taroth is a gigantic Elder Dragon known for its glimmering golden exterior. Taking down this massive gilded beast is no easy feat, which is why Capcom is introducing the new Siege quest type to Monster Hunter: World. For the Siege event, 16 players must meet in the Gathering Hub to coordinate their plans for hunting and conquering Kulve Taroth. Players can group up into four teams of four to collectively take down Kulve Taroth and reap the rewards of this collaborative hunt.

“As each hunting party collects more tracks and breaks off more parts from attacking Kulve Taroth, they’ll contribute progress to the same Siege,” said Capcom in today’s announcement. It’s also worth noting that this new Siege has been designed for multiplayer and that the game balance is the same regardless of party size.

The Kulve Taroth Siege event also re-introduces relics in Monster Hunter: World. Breaking off pieces of Kulve Taroth’s gilded mantle will grant you shiny weapon relics, which can be redeemed for new weapons with randomly-generated stats.

To complement these new relic-based weapons, Capcom is also adding a new Layered Armor Set that can be equipped over existing armor to change your character’s style in Monster Hunter: World. Check for a special delivery request after you’ve attempted your first Kulve Taroth Siege.

The limited-time Kulve Taroth Siege event kicks off on April 18 at 5:00 pm PT / 8:00 pm ET alongside the second free content update for Monster Hunter: World. If you need to brush up on your hunting skills, be sure to check out our MHW coverage on our Monster Hunter: World game hub.
