The Tribute can be accessed only if you have purchased Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven because it’s only accessible during winter. Here are the exact steps to find the River Boy tribute:

  • Once you have accessed Woolhaven, wait for winter to trigger.
  • As soon as it starts snowing, make your way to Pilgrim’s Passage using the teleporter.
  • From the left side, use the blocks of ice to descend the pier.
  • Continue south across the frozen sea until you spot a small island with a palm tree.

This is an incredibly touching tribute, and Massive Monster has done an excellent job honoring River Boy in the expansion. Outside of composing and serving as the audio director, he’s also responsible for several in-game voices as well, including the followers, making him a huge part of the development.

The Immortal trait, in particular, is very sweet, eternally cementing him as a follower who can’t perish. All the other traits are relevant to his skills as well, and I hope I’ve helped you find his tribute.

Ali has been writing about video games for the past six years and is always on the lookout for the next indie game to obsess over and recommend to everyone in sight. When he isn't spending an unhealthy amount of time in Slay the Spire, he's probably trying out yet another retro-shooter or playing Dark Souls for the 50th time.
