One of the biggest questions that we see arise when new games release across multiple consoles is ‘will it have cross-platform play’. Monster Hunter: World is no exception to the rule, and if you’ve been wondering whether or not the upcoming monster slaying game will include cross-platform play, then rest your weary head. We’ve got all the answers you need, including whether Monster Hunter: World offers cross-platform play and more.
What is Cross-Platform Play?
If you aren’t familiar with the term, then allow us to explain a little bit about why cross-platform play is such a big deal to people. Basically, in the most layman terms, cross-platform play allows users on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC to play the game together using the internet. It’s something that developers are starting to push for more and more, and a few games have already shown massive amounts of success with it.
Does Monster Hunter: World Have Cross-platform Play?
The short answer is… no. But, before you go off yelling at the developers keep in mind that Capcom has said that they haven’t ruled it out just yet. This means that it could still come down the line, but right now there aren’t any plans to bring it out with the release of the game on January 26.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to play with your friends just yet if they are playing on different consoles. The good news, though, is that Capcom has removed any kind of regional matchmaking, which means you can play with users all around the world, allowing friends that live on opposite sides of the world to play together. This also means that everyone will be able to find matches much easier, which is something hunters have to look to.
