To complete the Nell’s Diner Easter egg event and claim the Ghost in the Machine ID Card and Badge, you need to free the ghost from the Lair of the Unliving game. There are quite a few steps to this process, including:

  • Revealing a hidden UV Light code.
  • Locating all hidden arrow numbers.
  • Opening the locked safe.
  • Using the ATM.
  • Spending your cash.
  • Using your coin at the Lair of the Unliving game.
  • Witnessing a special Easter egg event.

It’s a fairly complex process, so here’s a full breakdown of how to get the full puzzle done.

How to Unlock Nell’s Diner Safe in Phasmophobia

To unlock the safe at Nell’s Diner, you need to reveal and piece together a hidden code. Start by grabbing a UV Light from the truck and heading into the manager’s office, which is the same room where the safe is located.

Approach the wall behind the safe and switch to your UV Light. Shine it at the wall, aiming for the small sticky note near the middle. Doing so reveals a secret code with three symbols: a down arrow, an up arrow, and a right arrow. You now need to find these symbols hidden around the diner to reveal the code.

All Arrow Number Locations at Nell’s Diner in Phasmophobia

  • The Down arrow can be found in the dining area, hanging on the gallery wall to your left as soon as you enter the building. You’re looking for a dark black arrow on a diamond yellow sign up on the wall. This arrow is pointing at a license plate that reads “B4N-5H3.” If you look closely, you can tell that it’s pointing at the number 4.

  • The Up arrow can be found in the parking lot near the truck, right underneath the massive glowing Nell’s Diner sign in the dirt mound near the street. It’s pointing at the number 1.

  • The Right arrow can be found around the side of the building by the dumpster. This is the toughest one to work out, as the arrow is on one side of the dumpster, but the number is on the other. The Right arrow is orange and partially obscured by a wooden pallet. It’s pointing at a dark blue number 5 on the other side of the trash.

Phasmophobia Nell’s Diner Safe Code

Putting the numbers you found in the right order according to the UV note reveals that the code for the safe in the manager’s office in Nell’s Diner is 415. Head back into the office and approach the safe to enter this code.

After entering the code, exit the safe and grab the handle to swing it open. The safe is a bit finicky, so it might take a few tries to get the door to open. Inside, you’ll find an ATM card. Grab it so you can move on to the next step in the puzzle.

How to Use ATM Card at Nell’s Diner in Phasmophobia

You can use the ATM card at the ATM machine sitting in the long red hallway. It’s right by the door that leads into the central dining area. Approach this machine with the card in hand to swipe.

The power must be on to use it, so if it’s not, you’ll need to find the fuse box and turn it on before using your card. Aim at the card slot located near the bottom right corner of the ATM screen to use your card. Similar to the safe, this machine can also be finicky, so it may take a few tries to get your card working. Grab the cash that drops after using your card.

Where to Spend Money at Nell’s Diner in Phasmophobia

With the money in your hand, turn left to find the red Mr. Spinkle vending machine. Press the interact button while aiming at the insert cash slot to spend the cash you got. As soon as you do, a small coin will drop on the ground for you to pick up. With the coin in your hand, it’s now time for the last part of the puzzle.
