How to Use Volleyball Emote in Marvel Rivals

Timing is key.

While most emotes can only be performed alone in Marvel Rivals, some let you interact with other players in unique ways. One of the coolest is the Volleyball Bash emote, although it’s tricky to use.

Playing volleyball is a great way to pass the time between rounds, but learning how to use this emote can be a tough process. If you’re stumped on how it works, here’s how to use the Volleyball Bash emote in Marvel Rivals.

You can use the Volleyball Bash emote by finding an eligible character, activating the emote, and pressing the hit button. The process for using this emote is a bit tricky to get down at first, and varies depending on how you’re trying to use it, so here’s a full breakdown to guide you through it.

To start the Volleyball Bash emote yourself:

  • Open your emote wheel.
  • Select the Volleyball Bash emote (If it’s not equipped, exit the game, select one of the characters who can use it, and equip it to the emote wheel).
  • Wait for another player to join in.
  • Press the hit button. On PC, you need to press T. On console, press Left D-Pad. Make sure you only tap the button, not hold it, as doing so will open up your emote wheel instead, which isn’t what you want here.
  • Keep pressing the hit button to keep the ball going back and forth.

To join in with another player who has started the Volleyball Bash emote:

  • Walk around until the hit button appears near the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the hit button to join the Volleyball Bash emote.
  • Keep tapping the hit button to play.

Joining another player who has queued up this emote is quite finicky, so you’ll likely need to circle around them until you find the right spot. Generally, you want to be a moderate distance away, as the button won’t pop up if you’re too close or too far away.

Knowing when to press the hit button is also rather tricky. You need to hit it way earlier than you’d expect. It’s best to press this button as soon as the volleyball reaches the other player. If you’re having trouble getting the timing right, you can also just spam the hit button repeatedly. The timing is so tricky on this one, so every time I’ve played volleyball, I’ve just spammed the button to ensure I don’t miss. I managed to get a streak of 50 going with another player, which was pretty cool.

Who Can Use Volleyball Emote in Marvel Rivals?

There are only four characters who can use the Volleyball Bash emote in Marvel Rivals, all of whom are featured in the Summer Special Vol. 2 event. The characters you can equip and use this emote with are:

  • Invisible Woman
  • Mantis
  • The Thing
  • The Punisher

You can activate this emote alone, but your character will just stand there holding the ball unless one of the eligible characters joins in. The only way to actually play and use it is if another player joins you.

The Volleyball Bash emote was initially available for free from Sept. 19 to 22 when it first released, but can now be purchased from the shop for 800 Units. It’s quite costly now, but it can be used with four different characters, and there are no other interactive emotes like it, so it’s a fun one to have if you main any of the characters who can use it.

If you’re not sure what to do next in Marvel Rivals, consider working on achievements. Some tricky ones you might need help navigating through are Prank of Monkey King and Blueprints Supreme.
