The Moss Mother is the first boss you’re likely to encounter, and she’s pretty easy to beat. But if you’re having any trouble at all, here’s a quick and easy way to make short work of this early boss encounter.
Moss Mother Attacks
The Moss Mother cycles between three attacks, all easily avoidable. Check out the table below for all of them, plus how to best dodge each one.

| Moss Mother will shake and offer a small sound cue, then charge at you with her stinger raised. | Simply wait for the attack and jump over her. |
| Moss Mother flies into the ceiling, causing rocks to fall on your head. | Watch for the dust trails on the top of the screen to know where the rocks will fall, and make sure to get out of the way. |
| Moss Mother does a little summersault along with a sound cue, and her young falls from the ceiling. | Kill the worm, but watch out for Moss Mother’s sneaky attack. |
To melt Moss Mother pretty quickly, you’ll want to exploit the first attack, where she charges at you wth her stinger raised. Try to get to the far end of the screen from where she is, about a third of the way across, and jump over her attack. Immediately turn and strike her a couple of times.
Repeat this simple strategy and she’ll fall in no time at all.
Where is Moss Mother?
Moss Mother is in the Ruined Chapel. As you enter and the short cutscene plays, simply jump onto the ledge above you, then to the next one to your right. Head on, destroy the moss covering the doors, and enter her chambers.
It’s a really easy boss fight, but it’s always worth knowing what awaits as you travel through the glorious world of Silksong, and I can hardly believe it’s finally here!
