Does Dawn of War Definitive Edition Have WASD Movement? Answered

Almost perfect.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition is a faithful remaster of the classic RTS, which put Warhammer on the video games map. It still holds up to this day, and the remaster is the way to go if you’re a new player or just returning to the franchise.

The remaster features numerous small additions, essentially quality-of-life improvements that enhance the overall experience, but what about the camera movement? Does Dawn of War Definitive Edition have any new methods to move the map, like using the WASD keys? Here is everything you need to know.

Does Dawn of War Definitive Edition Have WASD Camera Movement?

No, despite improvements made to the camera in Dawn of War: Definitive Edition, you can’t control it using the WASD keys.

Camera movement is still restricted to your mouse panning the screen. It’s not ideal, especially if you’re used to many other modern RTS titles. I do think this is something that the developers can consider adding because it does give players an option to adapt more easily.

Dawn of War is an amazing game, but getting used to its unique control scheme can take a bit of practice and familiarity.

Adding WASD Camera Support to Dawn of War Definitive Edition

Thankfully, PC gamers always find a way to add their desired features to titles, and Lahgtah on Steam has come up with a way to implement WASD camera movement to Dawn of War – Definitive Edition, with instructions provided in their guide.

If this is a feature you want added to the game, I recommend creating a request post to Relic. There are tons of posts on the Steam forums asking for this feature, and I think it’s something that Relic can easily implement in an update while accommodating the existing WASD binding.

It’s not something that would make the game easier or harder, but more accessible to a lot of players used to a different camera style. What can make your game experience better is the ability to skip all the intro cutscenes and get to the action much faster.
