In Grounded 2, you’ll constantly be attacked by the hacker and her ORCs throughout the game.
The attacks are mainly directed at you, so prepare your defenses to survive, or else you’ll lose some valuable resources and buildings. Here’s the best way to defend your base in Grounded 2.
The Best Defensive Setup for Your Base in Grounded 2

Since all bases are different, this basic defensive setup guide aims to give you a general idea of how to defend well. You can freely design your base however you want, and there are only a few things you can add to solidify your base’s defenses.
The most basic and effective way to defend is to add an Acorn Turret in your base.

Acorn Turrets require the following materials:
- 2x Acorn Shell
- 1x Acorn Top
- 3x Silk Rope
- 1x Flower Petal
- 2x Weed Stems
They do a lot of damage, but they won’t automatically shoot the bugs. You’ll have to manually use them to shoot the bugs, and you’ll need to craft their ammo too.

You’ll want to use the Rocky Rounds, as they are easier to obtain, since each craft gives you 25 Rocky Rounds per 25x Pebblets and 3x Acid Glands. Once you have this Acorn Turret and the rounds, try to place the Acorn Turret on the higher level. If you didn’t build a second floor, it is probably a good idea to start building one.

Since you can freely aim while using the Acorn Turret, the enemy bugs will have a hard time getting to you and most probably die before they even reach you. Just make sure you have a direct line of sight to the path or stairway where the bugs can climb to reach you.
You can also build traps like Spike Traps at chokepoints in your base. However, the main strategy is to call all your bugs out and make them tank the enemy bugs while you use the Acorn Turret. You can call your buggies, and they should automatically fight any attacker within their vicinity.
This is the most basic defensive setup, and it should work until the end, even if you are playing in multiplayer.
When Does the Hacker Attack in Grounded 2?

So far, the hacker’s attacks are quite confusing. You’ll randomly get a notification saying “Someone’s Threat” and see an hourglass icon. If the meter or bar reaches 0, the attack will have arrived. You’ll get two or three warnings, but sometimes it doesn’t even come. It could be a bug, but this is why it is confusing.
If there’s an attack notification and you try to sleep, it’ll even notify and warn you that an attack can happen before you even attempt to sleep. I still slept despite these warning signs, and the attack didn’t happen.
However, the attack does normally occur if the timer runs out and you aren’t trying to alter time by sleeping or anything else.
As for the consistency of the attacks, they don’t happen every day, but they do happen consistently. It could average around one attack every four or five days.
It is also worth noting that an attack can happen outside your base, and you’ll receive a call from the hacker about it. If you run from it, the attack will immediately stop, but you can get caught off guard and maybe even get your buggy knocked out.
