Find out which Exo-Rig will fit your playstyle best.
This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

When starting a new game in The Surge, you have the chance to choose between two different Exo-Rig armor setups. Choosing which Exo-Rig armor you want to start the game with can be difficult, as the game doesn’t really point out the key differences between the two. In this article we’ll discuss both sets of armor, explain the key differences that we’ve noticed in gameplay, and help you decide which is the best Exo-Rig armor in The Surge for your play style.

How to Choose the Best Exo-Rig

Choosing the best Exo-Rig for your playstyle is all about finding out which way you want to play through the game. Like previous games in its genre, The Surge relies heavily upon movement and timing to successfully take enemies down, because of this you want to choose an Exo-Rig that fits your playstyle for movement and attack power.

The Lynx Exo-Rig, which can be found on the left as you enter Registration at the start of the game, is all about moving quickly and staying agile. The rig itself is much less bulky than the Rhino gear, which gives the player less of a tank-like look.

When using the Lynx gear, movements like dodging, sprinting, and jumping take far less Stamina to pull off. So, if you enjoy dodging enemy attacks and being able to move around quickly, then the Lynx Exo-Rig could be the best fit for your playstyle.

If you enjoy a bulkier style of play, then the Rhino Exo-Rig is going to be your best bet. While it does move a bit slower, it’s still perfectly adequate in all combat situations. You will need to rely on your blocking a little bit more, and dodging and sprinting will cost you far more Stamina to pull off. But, the Rhino does come with the guarantee of stronger attacks, which is something that can definitely pay off when you’re in battle against several enemies.

Movement speed, attack power, and stamina usage are the biggest differences that we’ve noticed in our testing of the two Exo-Rigs. Unfortunately, we haven’t managed to find any actual stats information about the two, so these seem to be the only things that really matter when it comes to your decision on which rig you want to take.

Now that you know a little more about the two Exo-Rigs available at the start of the game, be sure to head back over to our The Surge guide for more helpful articles like how to farm crafting materials, how to find more Schematics, and even a guide on how to find your Power Core and activate your Exo-Rig’s full potential.
