We’ve got the Call of Duty: WWII trailer as well as the first campaign and multiplayer details for WWII. The reveal broadcast didn’t offer a ton of information, but you can find all the gameplay details right here and take a look at the Call of Duty: WWII trailer below! We’ve even got a little teaser of the Call of Duty: WWII Zombies mode, with more on that coming later this year.

As you can see from the trailer above, Call of Duty: WWII will release on November 3, 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. You can pre-order right now, with all pre-orders gaining access to the private multiplayer beta that will take place later this year, available first on PlayStation 4. But the trailer wasn’t the only thing on display at the CoD: WWII reveal. Sledgehammer Games co-studio heads and founders, Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield, as well as some of the voice cast for the game were on hand to discuss WWII.

“Call of Duty: WWII has been a journey of inspiration and passion for everyone at Sledgehammer Games. The team is dedicated to delivering on the intense nature of war that focuses on the heroism and sacrifice of soldiers in WWII. Our rich narrative driven, action-packed campaign, and engaging and innovative multiplayer experience immerse players into the boots of a soldier fighting for freedom in a world on the brink of tyranny.  And, our co-operative mode delivers a unique storyline that’s an all-new take on Nazi Zombies that we think fans are going to love,” said Michael Condrey, Studio Head and Co-Founder of Sledgehammer Games.

Campaign Mode

Call of Duty: WWII takes place during the events of 1944 and 1945, weaving in and out of historic events such as storming the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. The game takes place almost entirely in Europe, so don’t expect to see much of the Pacific front, but the development team has spent the last two and a half years traveling out to various locations in Europe, talking to WWII veterans and historians, and making sure every detail is included in the game.

Throughout the campaign there will be a sense of comradery with actors such as Josh Duhmel (Transformers) taking on the roles of the your friends and allies in the game. The game is emotionally dark and visually beautiful, with private Red Daniels being your primary surrogate throughout the campaign.

“The story we’re telling is unlike anything that we’ve tackled before.  It’s such an amazing journey of common everyday people who became heroes. We want to respect this great generation of soldiers, tell a realistic story set in a true inflection point in human history, and deliver the best experience of our careers,” added Glen Schofield, Studio Head and Co-Founder of Sledgehammer Games.

Guns, Multiplayer and Zombies

Call of Duty: WWII Zombies

Very few details were provided for anything beyond the campaign mode. However, many of the guns in the game will be as close to era perfect as possible. You won’t find any futuristic weaponry here as all of the sounds and various nuances of the weapons have been painstakingly detailed during the two and a half years of development time.

Mutliplayer will be discussed more at E3 2017 at Activision’s press conference, but the developers are looking to have more community features for players to interact outside of the game. The multiplayer in WWII also features Divisions, which delivers a new approach to character and create-a-class. There’s also War, an all-new narrative multiplayer mode of play, and Headquarters, a first of its kind for the Call of Duty social community, designed for players to interact and socialize with friends. Co-op Zombies are coming, but only a quick render was shown for now.
