Monster Train 2 Save File Location on PC

Perfect for the Deck!

Monster Train 2 improves upon the original in practically every way, and it’s one of the best rogue-lite releases of the year. Just like the first one, Monster Train 2 has practically an endless amount of content and is available on every major platform.

If you’re playing on PC and want to access your local profile data, here is the save file location for Monster Train 2.

Monster Train 2 Save File Location

ClientSave File Location

All your progress and profile-specific data are stored in the Monster Train 2 folder. If you’re looking for just the save files, open the saves folder within this MonsterTrain2 folder. I recommend backing up the entire MonsterTrain2 folder to make sure nothing breaks.

You can access the same location by entering the following address in Windows Explorer or Windows Run.

%USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Shiny Shoe/MonsterTrain2

There are a few things you need to keep in mind about the save files of Monster Train 2.

  • If you played the demo, no matter how extensively, the progress cannot be carried over to the main game, even if you copy the demo save files. The demo isn’t available anymore either.
  • Monster Train 2 is also available on PC through the Xbox App via Game Pass. The save files are not transferable, so if you plan on playing this for a while, I recommend sticking to one client.
  • Finally, it shouldn’t come as a surprise, but the console save files aren’t transferrable to the PC version either because Monster Train 2 doesn’t have cross-progression.

Does Monster Train 2 Have Steam Cloud?

Yes, Monster Train 2 has support for Steam Cloud, which means that your progress is shared between devices where you have logged into Steam. This includes the Steam Deck, which can easily play Monster Train 2 without a hitch.

Outside of Steam Cloud, Monster Train 2 has the following Steam features as well:

  • Steam Trading Cards: You can earn trading cards, which can be used to craft badges or sold on the Steam market.
  • Family Sharing: Members of your Steam family can access Monster Train 2 in their libraries.
  • Achievements: There are a total of 50 achievements to unlock in Monster Train 2.

Overall, Monster Train 2 is light on the hardware and the perfect game to play on the go, thanks to its Steam Deck verification as well.
