Jonathon Zamkoff, producer of Mercenaries 2 has expressed his desire for the next Mercenaries game to feature lots of underwater action.
When Eurogamer asked Zamkoff if there was definitely going to be a third game he said “If I have anything to do with it, there will be.”
The existence of a third game can’t be confirmed so far away, especially considering the second hasn’t yet come out, but with EA publishing the game it could be quite likely.
“We probably would be looking at underwater gameplay – submarines, scuba tanks and underwater action,” said Zamkoff.
“I think it would be really cool in Mercs to do some more submersible stuff – take an underwater vehicle and plant some C4 at the base of an oilrig.”
His other ideas include creating a co-op mode for the game that would allow four, eight or perhaps even sixteen players.
We might be seeing a demo on PSN and Xbox Live, but this decision is still in the process of being made, “It’s to be decided right now,” Zamkoff stated. “We certainly have ambitions to do so, but we’ve got a pretty tight window.”
Mercenaries 2 will be out this winter on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and PS2.
