This article will show you how to get the new Gjallarhorn that was released in Year 3 of Destiny in Rise of Iron. With the release of Rise of Iron came with it a new and shiny Gjallarhorn, but instead of receiving it from an Exotic Engram, buying it from Xur, or getting it from a boss drop you need to follow a quest line and build your very own Gjallarhorn. Here’s exactly what you need to do to get the new Gjallarhorn in Destiny: Rise of Iron.

Step 1: Unlock the Iron Temple

Begin Rise of Iron and unlock the Iron Temple social space. Return to the Iron Temple and talk to everyone there to receive the Echoes of the Past, the first step on your quest to unlock the new Gjallarhorn in Rise of Iron.

Step 2: Await the Call

Complete the Rise of Iron Campaign to get started on your way to unlocking the new Gjallarhorn

Step 3: Patrol the Plaguelands

This step requires you to scan an Anomaly within Site 6. To begin this you will first need to head to Archon’s Keep which is found to the right of Patrol spawn. Start a Ghost Scan Patrol and Ghost will direct you deeper into the Archon’s Forge and into Site 6. To access the next area you will need a Splicer Key which are dropped from Brood Hive. Use the Splicer Key to access the section where a Spliced Devil Walker is located. You will need to scan the ground behind the Devil Walker so either clear out the room or scan it on the run.

Step 4: Return to the Iron Temple

Talk to Lord Saladin and Tyra Karn to begin the next step.

Step 5: Collect Iron Medallions

This next step on your quest to unlock the new Gjallarhorn requires you to collect Iron Medallions that are scattered throughout the Plaguelands and in the Iron Temple. The Iron Medallions look like iron wolf heads.

Felwinter Peak Medallion

The first Iron Medallion can be found in Felwinter Peak up the stairs behind the Bounty Tracker. Use the rocks to jump up to the wolf then turn around and continue climbing.

Lords’ Watch Medallion

This Iron Medallion can be found as soon as you enter Plaguelands Patrol. When you spawn, turn right to see a little building. Head into the building and find the Iron Medallion on the shelf.

Giant’s Husk Medallion

To find this Iron Medallion you need to head into Giant’s Husk which is located to the right of spawn. As you enter Giant’s Husk, turn to the right and climb the hill and onto the overpass. The Iron Medallion is located on the side closest to the wall in a little alcove created by shipping containers. Look for the green container that creates a door frame.

Archon’s Keep Medallion

To find this Iron Medallion you will need to make your way to Archon’s Keep which can be found by heading right from Patrol spawn. Pass the Giant’s Husk, Doomed Sea and into the Archon’s Keep. Head toward the tower on the hill but don’t go inside. The Iron Medallion can be found in a pile of scrap behind the Keep.

Site 6 Medallion

This next Iron Medallion can be found in Site 6. To reach Site 6 go right from Plaguelands Patrol spawn, passing through Giant’s Husk, Doomed Sea and into Archon’s Keep. Enter Archon’s Keep and move through into Archon’s Forge continuing until you enter Site 6. As you drop down into Site 6 turn to your left and find the Iron Medallion at the top of the stairs.

Bunker Triglav Medallion

To find this Iron Medallion head left from spawn until you reach Bunker Triglav. Head inside to the right where the Fallen are fighting. Once inside, hug the left wall and you’ll find it by a door frame.

Forgotten Pass Medallion

This final Iron Medallion can be found by going left from Plaguelands Patrol, past Bunker Triglav and toward a bridge. You will enter the Forgotten Pass and see a bridge with a broken truck and Fallen. The Iron Medallion is located beneath a Fallen crate.

After you have found all the Iron Medallions, return to Tyra at the Iron Temple to begin the next step.

Step 6: Fight on Bannerfall

This next step is called A Symbol of Honor and takes you to the Bannerfall map. This mission is located on Earth and requires you to move around Bannerfall scanning archives and what looks like the new Gjallarhorn, and then holding out against waves of enemies while Ghost defuses a bomb. Once the bombs are defused you will need to kill an Ultra Fallen in the courtyard. Bring a Fireteam as this section can be challenging.

After completing this mission return to Tyra to begin the next step.

Step 7: Collect Dormant SIVA Clusters

Tyra will task you with collecting Dorman SIVA Clusters. Check out our SIVA Cluster guide which details where to find all Dormant SIVA Clusters.

Once this step is complete you will need to talk to Lord Saladin.

Step 8: Beauty in Delivery

Lord Saladin will give you the next step to complete the Earth mission called Beauty in Delivery. This mission takes place in Skyshock and requires you to clear the area of Fallen before holding out against several waves of Fallen while Ghost repairs your new Gjallarhorn.

After Ghost repairs it you are free to use your newly unlocked Gjallarhorn for the remainder of the mission which requires you to destroy to Spliced Devil Walkers.

Step 9: Talk to Lord Saladin

To complete the quest you must return to the Iron Temple and talk to Lord Saladin.

If you followed this guide you will know how to get the Gjallarhorn in Destiny: Rise of Iron.
