Below are some fun tips that will give you everything from a level select to the much beloved debug mode in Sonic the Hedgehog 2!

Level Select Cheat in Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Want to skip levels in Sonic the Hedgehog’s sequel? There’s an easy way to do that. Make your way over to the Sound Test (it’s on the main start screen under Options) and then play the following music and sounds: 19 (Sonic 2 Theme), 65 (Shifting Sound), 09 (Casino Night Zone 1) and 17 (Invincibility Music). In case you didn’t know, that’s September 17, 1965 – the birth date of Sonic creator Yuji Naka.

Once that’s done, you’ll be able to go back to the start screen. Hold the A button and press Start, and you can choose your starting level for Sonic the Hedgehog 2!

Debug Mode in Sonic the Hedgehog 2

First, you’ll need to input the level select code listed above. Once that’s done, return to the sound test option and play the following sound bits: 1, 9, 9, 2, 1, 1, 2 and 4. Do this correctly and you’ll hear a ring sound.

Go back to the level select menu (holding down A and pressing Start from the main menu) and choose your stage. While you’re in this mode, you can turn Debug on and off by pressing the B button, switch objects in the environment by pressing the A button and put down that selected item by pressing the C button.

Just remember one thing – if you hit the A button while the action is paused, the game will automatically reset. Have fun!
