Having the best guns in Destiny: The Taken King makes it easier to defeat Oryx, the Fallen Saber Strike and most importantly, the difficult King’s Fall Raid. There’s also the coolness factor. You want to make other players jealous, but this often comes with great effort. Obtaining these instruments of destruction is the tough part, which is why we created this list of must have weapons in Destiny and surefire ways to get ahold of them. Some you’ll need to work for, while others come by way of random drops.
Zhalo Supercell Auto Rifle
This incredible gun reminds us of an AK-47 with a cool sci-fi vibe. It features crazy recoil and is difficult to control, but this shortcoming is miniscule compared to the weapon’s 290 Attack power and the ability to inflict damage to multiple enemies at once with chain lightning. Think of the Zhalo Supercell as a portable Emperor Palpatine that shoots electrified bullets.
Stock up on Three of Coins and burn these consumables before destroying one of the game’s bosses in the hope of a random drop. Case in point, we picked up the Zhalo Supercell after defeating Draksis during the Scourge of Winter quest on Venus. We burned the Three of Coins right before walking into the room and then picked up the Exotic Engram upon his death. Unfortunately there’s no guarantee this exact scenario will work for you.
No Time to Explain Pulse Rifle
Destiny players had a good laugh at the game’s infamous line, “I don’t have time to explain why I don’t have time to explain.” Bungie offered a tongue in cheek response with this incredible pulse rifle inspired by the game’s dialogue; turns out it is the Stranger’s weapon. There’s nothing funny about its performance, though. This baby packs 290 Attack power, outstanding sights and the ability to deal kinetic damage. No random drop. We’ll tell you exactly how to get No Time to Explain in this feature.
Sleeper Simulant Fusion Rifle
Up next is another 290 Attack powerhouse, capable of frying almost anything in its destructive path. Upgrade the Sleeper Simulant and its laser will ricochet off hard surfaces, and you always have the option of weapon infusion to make it even more powerful.
Getting your virtual hands on one of these weapons takes some effort. You’ll need to correctly input the four Curious Transceiver Codes and battle level 41 enemies, among other tasks. Naturally we figured this out beforehand and will tell you how to get the Sleeper Simulant.
Boolean Gemini Scout Rifle
Everyone loves the Boolean Gemini because it has two exotic perks. The first grants bonus agility after precision kills. The effect lasts 15 seconds and gamers can stack it up to three times. The second gives the user Bonus Armor for non-precision kills, so basically for having terrible aim. Wield with confidence!
There’s much busy work involved with obtaining this gun, but we’ll break down how to get the Boolean Gemini with relative ease.
Touch of Malice Scout Rifle
Unlike the other weapons in Destiny, the mysterious Touch of Malice is dangerous to Guardians wielding it. There are 11 rounds and the last one is infinite at the expense of your health. Each time you squeeze off a shot on the 11th round the weapon inflicts damage, but at least on the positive side you regain a sizable amount of health for killing three consecutive enemies. Risky? Sure, but there’s no reason why you shouldn’t add the Touch of Malice to your collection.
Sword
Once you have a Legendary Sword, you have the option to upgrade to the Exotic Sword with 310 Attack Power! Armed with this amazing blade, you’ll have little trouble carving up enemies with yellow health bars. Getting this weapon, however, takes a lot of time. The first step of the quest involves farming 10 Rare Planetary Materials, and this will take at least an hour. Even then, you still have to kill the Warden of Oryx and Alak-Hul in 30 seconds, which is no small feat to say the least. The reward is definitely worth the effort, though, and we have step-by-step instructions on how to get the Exotic Sword with the least amount of hassle.
