This news comes from a HIDECHAN radio show (a feature on Kojima’s blog), when Kojima said “We’re going to do it as a movie.”

The film will, if it ever sees the light of day, be in English. As far as a release date goes: “I can’t say when yet,” Kojima said.

Over the years there’s been many a rumor of a Metal Gear Solid movie, it’s been thought by many that with the games being so cinematic in their style that it’d be pretty apt.

There have been a fair few directors linked with the project already, including the rather infamous Uwe Boll. So far Kojima has been holding back on proceedings, apparently due to not yet being perfectly happy with the conditions. This recent statement could mean that something has changed.

Despite the fact there have been a lot of game adaptations that never saw the light of day, recent years have shown there can be success within the genre, with the Silent Hill and Resident Evil films doing so well.

Keep coming back for more news on the Metal Gear’s various incoming incarnations.
