Path of Exile 2 has turned up the boss fights for all ARPGs by introducing hundreds of them with unique mechanics. The Bloated Miller is the first of many bosses in Path of Exile 2 and it is the first hurdle into the challenges you’ll face in the campaign and throughout the endgame. If you are having a hard time beating the Bloated Miller boss in Path of Exile 2, this is the perfect guide for you. We’ll go through all the fight mechanics since, at this point, you don’t really have much chance to customize your character.
How to Defeat the Bloated Miller Boss in Path of Exile 2
The Bloated Miller has several dangerous attacks, but they only feel dangerous because everything is happening so quickly. The two main attacks you want to look out for are his two-handed slam and his charge attack.
The Bloated Miller’s Ground Slam Attack
When the Bloated Miller crouches and holds his weapon with two hands, he’ll start smashing the ground in your direction. If you dodge the initial slam, you still have to dodge the shockwave after the slam. You can either use the natural dodge movement (dodge roll) right before the boss slams the floor, or you can attack the boss while moving diagonally.
It depends on your class or build. If you are ranged, you might as well kite the boss around and move diagonally. Use the dodge when things get tight, or you lack space. For melee characters, you want to still move diagonally but dodge away from the boss so you have more space and reaction time to dodge the shockwave.

The Bloated Miller’s Charging Attack
As for the next dangerous attack, the Bloated Miller will sometimes run straight at you, dragging his cleaver on the ground. If you are running around diagonally, he will most likely hit the wall and do his next attack sequence. For ranged characters, you’ll have a huge opening to do some damage because the boss doesn’t steer left or right when it runs at you. You can sidestep and start unloading attacks on him.
However, melee characters will have to dodge immediately to the side once they see the cleaver get dragged on the floor.
As for his other attacks, he also does a foot stomp on the ground, dealing damage to a small radius around the boss. He also swings his weapon randomly when you are near him, which looks like a basic attack. After beating the boss, you’ll get some uncut gems to level your skill gems or make new ones.
