Which companions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard would make the best guests at Friendsgiving? We’ve ranked each companion character below.
All Dragon Age: The Veilguard Companions Ranked by their Friendsgiving Guest Appeal
Friendsgiving is a friend-focused alternative to Thanksgiving. These events are typically potlucks and are just as chatty as a more traditional Thanksgiving get-together. This list ranks each companion in Dragon Age: The Veilguard based on how good they’d be as a guest at a Friendsgiving celebration, with a focus on what food they might bring and how good they’d be at holding a conversation with everyone else.
Honorary Mention: Varric
Varric may not participate in battle past the first mission in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but he is still a companion in our hearts. As one of the greatest storytellers across the Dragon Age series, Varric would be a fantastic guest at Friendsgiving. He’d get along with everyone and beguile them with his tales. Varric is also a published author, opening up discussion around his serials. He’s an honorary mention since he’s not a proper Veilguard companion, but he’s still always invited to Friendsgiving in our minds.
Veilguard Companions as Friendsgiving Guests #7: Taash
Let’s be realistic, Taash will not want to attend Friendsgiving. It’s not a matter of not being good friends with them—it’s that there are no dragons at Friendsgiving (hopefully), and the discussion simply cannot stay focused on dragons all night. We know Taash will try their best to get through the night for the sake of all their friends, but it’s better to just let Taash do their own thing on Friendsgiving and hang out with them another time. Perhaps a post-Friendsgiving dragon fan club meeting is in order.
Veilguard Companions as Friendsgiving Guests #6: Davrin
Davrin is fantastic company, especially over a pint in the Lighthouse. But as a Grey Warden, his topics of discussion will naturally run dark, and aren’t the best for a Friendsgiving get-together. And where Davrin goes, Assan follows. While we love Assan’s company, we don’t love the idea of him scarfing down almost all the food and leaving griffon feathers in whatever he leaves behind. We love spending time with Davrin, but it may be best to keep that limited to times when lots of food isn’t involved.
Veilguard Companions as Friendsgiving Guests #5: Harding
Harding is always wonderful company. She doesn’t start arguments and appreciates good food and drink. We’re always happy to have her over for Friendsgiving. The reason she doesn’t rank higher is only because the other Veilguard companions happen to bring more to the Friendsgiving table, both metaphorically and literally.
Veilguard Companions as Friendsgiving Guests #4: Neve
Neve may not be the best cook, but there’s more to Friendsgiving than bringing food. Neve would no doubt bring the best stories from her escapades as a detective in Minrathous. Everyone will stay long after the food is finished in large part thanks to the compelling conversations that Neve will spearhead. Just be aware that she can come across as a bit flirty even when she doesn’t mean to, to which each guest’s mileage may vary.
Veilguard Companions as Friendsgiving Guests #3: Bellara
Bellara is the Veilguard companion besides Lucanis who cooks—and talks about—food the most at the Lighthouse, which is already a big point in her favor as a Friendsgiving guest. Besides the great food she’ll bring, she’ll also be great company. She’s always enthusiastic and makes friends easily, which will enhance any and all Friendsgiving vibes. In the off chance that the discussion turns dark, Bellara also knows when to be serious and considerate, but will also likely steer the conversation back into territory better suited for Friendsgiving.
Veilguard Companions as Friendsgiving Guests #2: Lucanis
Lucanis is the best cook among the Veilguard companions by far. He’ll know how to make food and drinks that appeal to everyone’s unique tastes. At first, his resident demon Spite seems like a drawback, especially since he can sprout wings and get feathers in all the food if he wants. But Spite and Lucanis have been getting along better as of late, lessening the cons of Spite attending Friendsgiving. Even if Spite acts up, we’ll take that risk if it means getting to have some of Lucanis’s personally brewed coffee—and we think that same coffee will likely calm Spite if the need arises.
Veilguard Companions as Friendsgiving Guests #1: Emmerich
Emmerich is always a joy to be around. Despite being a Necromancer who naturally focuses a lot on matters of death, he is a wonderful conversationalist, always considerate of everyone’s feelings. There will be no awkward Friendsgiving discussions that everyone wants to bail out of when Emmerich is around to mediate. He would also bring Manfred, who is another wonderful guest to have over. Emmerich’s charm is off the charts and would make for the best guest at Friendsgiving and any other event.
