MGS4 will be a next-gen release

Hideo to take a step back

Metal Gear Solid 4 will be the first game of a new section of Solid Snake’s narrative, it’s to be a “next-generation title”, said Hideo Kojima in Berlin at a press event, who tricked us all (the scoundrel) when we saw in a trailer last year that MGS3 was the “Final Episode in the Metal Gear Solid Trilogy”.

Apparently, Hideo Kojima won’t be quite so much the leading man on the new project, with the torch passed on in various ways to Ken-Ichiro Imaizumi, with Kojima taking the title of executive producer. Still though, Kojima insisted there’s simultaneously “No place to hide” and “No place for Hideo” (whatever that means).

Imaizumi-san added that the next-gen MGS devs “want to feature a fresh, intriguing storyline and gameplay plus captivating graphics and more features while remaining true to the core of the MGS series – remaining Solid.”

We’ve seen Kojima-san take a step on the franchise before; when Metal Gear Acid, the PlayStation Portable card-based game and the Game Boy Metal Gear Solid title was released.

Do keep checking the MGS4 game hub for more information as we get it.
