How to Find the Dead Islands in Dead Island 2 Haus | Secret Mace

Dead Island 2 has one ultimate weapon in the game that is supposedly a “secret” called the “Dead Islands.” The Dead Islands is a named mace weapon, which is one of the best weapons in the game, and most players will overlook the fact that it even exists because of how cryptically the quest line starts. Here’s a complete guide on how to find the Dead Islands secret mace weapon in Dead Island 2 Haus.

Where to Get the Dead Islands in Dead Island 2 Haus

Before being eligible to get the Dead Islands secret mace weapon, you must complete the following quests: Invitation for a Failure and Ark of Ascension. The Ark of Ascension is essentially Act 2 or Chapter 2 of the Dead Islands 2 Haus expansion, so you’ll have to go through the main storyline before getting the Dead Islands mace.

The Invitation for a Failure is a journal entry found in the Serling Hotel lobby, on top of the desk, as seen in the image above. The invitation’s confusing aspect is that picking it up doesn’t actually give you a quest to follow, which means you have no marker or objective to notify you of what to do.

Once you have the Invitation for a Failure, you must open the journal tab and read the invitation. The invitation note goes to your journals tab instead of your quest tab, which is probably why this is considered a secret quest since most players will think that it is just additional lore at this point.

The note gives you a clue, saying, “A photograph, featuring a ring of flowers, and text that reads: “Hello Failure. You are invited to your last chance… Come — prove yourself.””

It says that you need to find a blue ring of flowers similar to the one in the picture or in the letter.

How to Find the Blue Ring of Flowers in Dead Island 2 Haus

To solve the riddle of the Invitation for Failure, go back to the main lobby and open the switches to open the door leading to the outside. Clear all the zombies on the way if possible.

Once you are outside, follow the pathway and go to the yard in the middle of the two houses, as seen in the first image. Explore the yard and look for the blue circle of flowers. Just going around it will spawn the boss Taliah the Unworthy. The fight is a bit tricky since zombies will continuously spawn as you fight Taliah. The trick is to get off the grass so the zombies don’t spawn. There’s a park table by the yard which you can jump on and then try to beat Taliah.

Once Taliah is defeated, the Invitation for a Failure journal entry will update, and you will actually get a quest for the Path of the Unworthy quest, the quest that unlocks the Dead Islands secret mace.

How to Complete the Path of the Unworthy Quest in Dead Island 2 Haus

Once you have the path of the Unworthy quest, you’ll have an objective or marker to follow now. Just go to the next house with brains scattered around and inside the house. Shoot these brains to open up new areas and go inside the house.

Work your way into the house and go to the attic. You’ll see some brains blocking the path and you can destroy them to open the next area. Once in the attic, you’ll find a dead body with a candle, which should hold the first quest item – Game One: Follow, Puke, Flush.

Next, follow the long hallway leading to the huge bathroom area. There are zombies around this area, but the only one you have to clear is the big Slobber because you’ll want some peace when checking the stalls. Once you have destroyed the Slobber, search the stalls for the Game Two: Listen, Crawl, Burn quest item.

Next, you want to go to the forest area in the house with the huge bonfire or pyre. Look for the sign near the pyre that shows you directions to the diner. Below this sign, you will find the 3rd and last quest item – Game Three: Kill, Steal, Absolution.

Explore the pyre, and you’ll find two bosses: Marco, the Final Test, and Ezra, the Last Failure. Once you beat these bosses, they will drop the Key to Absolution. Pick up the key and run back to the attic where you got the first quest item.

Next to the dead body, you’ll see the Chest of the Worthy. Use the key and grab the Dead Islands secret mace. This ends the Path of the Unworthy quest line, and you’ll also get a Special Sauce blueprint.
