How to Finish Don’t Believe Your Eyes in Escape from Tarkov

I still can't believe my eyes.

Escape from Tarkov’s 0.15.5 patch introduces another exclusive Halloween event with limited-time achievements for players to complete. The first task of a long chain of quests will be the Don’t Believe Your Eyes quest given by Jaeger. The quest introduces something special to Tarkov by bringing a horde of zombies and an extended version of the Labs. If you are scared of zombies, you should read up and prepare for the task so you can go in and out of the map. Here’s how to finish the Don’t Believe Your Eyes task in Escape from Tarkov.

How to Complete the Don’t Believe Your Eyes Quest in Escape from Tarkov

To finish Don’t Believe Your Eyes, you must complete the following objectives:

  • Locate the source of rumors of the living dead in the Labs
  • Find a way inside the quarantined section in the Labs

Once you find the source of rumors, as seen in the task description, the task will update and force you to find a way inside the quarantined section of the new containment room that opened up in Labs.

The event offers every player free access to Labs, which makes the challenge less risky. However, you have to prepare for the incoming zombie horde that runs 24/7 on Labs. The ammo and loadout alone may cost you a lot of money, but I highly suggest bringing a cheap semi-automatic or automatic shotgun and using 7mm buckshot as your main ammunition.

A semi-modded MP-155 with an improved magazine should do the trick, and you should probably bring two of these just in case. Also, bring grenades for emergency situations.

Source of rumors location in the Labs

The source of the rumor location is the new containment lab door that opened up on the first floor near the infirmary. Some lab players call this area the “med tents,” as there are medical tents by the hallway.

As you enter the containment block room, you’ll see an open door to your left. There will be some closed doors ahead, but you only have to step into the room before the hazard or laboratory rooms to finish the first objective.

The quest will require you to go further, so you will have to open the switch inside the control room in the containment block. It is between where you finished your first objective and the residential lab room. Most areas in the containment block are either closed off or locked, so you cannot miss the control room with the switch as it is the only room open.

Once you turn on the switch, the closed room going to the laboratories will open. Step inside, and that should finish the quest. You don’t have to survive and extract to finish this first quest. You can stay inside and loot the laboratories as there are several high-value spawns on the tables and floor, and even med bags and med cases scattered around the rooms.
