Mercenaries are a new feature introduced in the Vessel of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4 and offer players a few companions to accompany them while destroying the monsters of hell. Here is how to get Mercenaries in Diablo 4.
How to Unlock Mercenaries in Diablo 4
Diablo 4 players can unlock Mercenaries by playing through the Vessel of Hatred campaign. This requires owning the Vessel of Hatred campaign, which is a paid expansion. It is available to buy in the Standard, Deluxe, or Ultimate Edition of the expansion itself, though players only need the Standard to access the campaign.
Players can start the Vessel of Hatred campaign immediately, but it will take a relatively short amount of time before unlocking the first Mercenary. Following the campaign will take players into the new region of Nahantu, where players will meet Raheir and discover the Mercenary Den. Reaching the Mercenary Den hub location in the DLC will unlock the ability to hire Mercenaries as their companion or reinforcement.
How to Get All Mercenaries in Diablo 4
There are four Mercenaries to unlock in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred and all Mercenaries can be earned through playing the campaign’s main missions. The first one, Raheir, will be available when he takes you to the Mercenary Den. The tank-like companion will also serve as the Blacksmith for the location.
The next Mercenary to unlock is Aldkin, who will appear after completing the A Nameless Mystery quest. Aldkin uses magic to protect players and is the Den’s Occultist once unlocked.
The third Mercenary is Varyana, who switches between two axes or a giant mace. She can be unlocked after the Slayer’s Retribution quest.
The fourth and final Mercenary of the Vessel of Hatred DLC is Subo, who is essentially a Rogue that can use traps and a crossbow to deal damage from afar. Completing the A Feather on the Scale quest will unlock him at the Den as a companion or reinforcement.
