How to Get Skill Points in Creatures of Ava

Are they skill points or research points?

Getting skill points is a bit confusing in Creatures of Ava because you also encounter another term for it like research points. They are essentially the same thing, and you see the tiny progress bar on the top of your screen every time you gain skill or research points. Getting skill points to strengthen Vic involves doing several activities in the game. Here are all the activities you need to finish to get those skill points in Creatures of Ava.

All Methods to Get Skill Points in Creatures of Ava

As mentioned earlier, there are several ways to get skill points or research points in Creatures of Ava. Upon finishing an activity, you’ll see a progress bar on the top of your screen that goes up. When it fills up, you gain a skill point, and it restarts. Most activities give you progress toward this bar, and here’s a quick list of everything you need to finish to gain more skill points:

  • Finishing quests
  • Finding memos and tablets
  • Rescuing creatures
  • Investigating Antaris Statue
  • Taking pictures of Wind Chimes
  • Finding Censers
  • Taking pictures of characters or NPCs

As you may have noticed, most of these are “optional” activities, and if you streamline through the main story, you’ll surely lack some skill points. While the story is still doable, depending on your difficulty, it feels much better to have stronger abilities and tools at your disposal.

Interacting with memos and tablets is one overlooked activity. You don’t have to read them; you just have to pick them up. Wind Chimes and Censers are scattered around the map. Most of them are located in points of interest, like the main path to a main quest or some side quests involving puzzles.

Antaris Statues are also scattered around the map, but they are easier to find because some areas on the map have the “Antaris” word for the location, like Antaris Cliff Temple and Antaris Hermitage, which means there’s an Antaris statue to unlock.

Taking pictures of creatures and petting creatures are optional quests to complete research tasks on your Avapedia. The game teaches you this, but it never teaches you to take pictures of the actual characters in the game. If you take pictures of characters like Tabitha, Hon’lo, or Nim’ar, you’ll get some skill points, too.

What Skills Should You Upgrade First in Creatures of Ava

Roll, Concentration, and Overcharge are the best skills everyone should get as fast as possible. Roll helps you get around the areas quicker. Concentration will save you some health points because we all know how hard it is to take pictures of infected creatures without taking damage. Overcharge gives you an extra damage boost, or I should say a cleansing boost, to deal with infected creatures faster.

For the rest of your skill points, you can go by preference. You can focus on your favorite spells, like Kirst or Ushun. If you like getting more resources and exploring around, Resourceful and Item Detector will benefit you the most.

Skills under the attributes tab will require items rather than skill points, e.g., Backpack Pockets to increase inventory size or Health Kits to increase maximum health.
