Path of Exile 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur League Mechanic Explained

A Civ game inside Path of Exile?!

Path of Exile reveals one of its most ambitious leagues ever made with patch 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur. The Settlers of Kalguur experiments with real-time mechanics, commonly seen in RTS games, and it drastically changes how a player would farm for currency, create builds, and, most importantly, play the game. Players will have their own town to manage, and you’ll have to use all these new features to capitalize on these new resource-generating avenues.

Some say it is a game within a game, which is why it is important to learn all Path of Exile Settlers of Kalguur’s league mechanics beforehand so you won’t get overwhelmed when you start playing.

Players will unlock an area called “Kingsmarch,” where you can build farm plots, mining areas, docks, and much more. These features revolve around recruiting workers and gaining resources to upgrade and use these extra features. Each new addition will feature a new mechanic players could experiment on and we’ll tackle each one here.

Base Management

You can get a brief overview of almost everything going around in your camp or town hall. You can see your mined ores (the ones you get from maps) and process them into bars to be used for other features. Each area will have a tooltip below and you can see how many workers are allocated to these areas. You can assign workers to mining to process all your available ores into smelted bars or have them take care of your crops.

Recruiting Workers

Recruiting workers requires gold, which is one of the biggest changes in Settlers of Kalguur. Gold never existed until this league, and you’ll use this gold to hire workers and pay them a wage to complete your tasks. You’ll hire these workers in your main town hall and each worker will specialize in doing specific tasks. The better the workers, the higher the costs.

You should be careful about how you manage your gold because using the Currency Exchange Market also needs gold among many other things.

When you go through your typical map farming sessions, you’ll see some resources spawn. You can compare this mechanic to the Ritual mechanic, where there’s an altar that constantly spawns enemies. The rarer the resource, the harder the enemies. Once you finish the mechanic, the resource will be available to be mined, and you’ll need an available worker to mine the resource.

Map Devices and Sea Exploration for Workers

One of the most exciting features is the new map devices that you can build in Kingsmarch. You can have three map devices, and you can place your maps inside the map device and assign a worker to finish the map for you. These maps will give you loot, depending on the type of maps used. If the maps are dangerous, the risks get higher.

Some workers specialize in combat or doing maps, so they will drastically reduce the risk of completing the map. If a worker fails, they will permanently perish, and you’ll have to use more gold to recruit workers.

The same mechanic applies to your dock, where you would send your workers to trade or get resources. They can encounter difficulties on their voyages, and you need the best workers to reduce the risks of failure.
