Defensive tackle is an often overlooked position by many gamers, but the penalty for this mistake can be painful. A great DT is going to help stop the run without committing extra resources from your defense that can leave you vulnerable. Many of these players take on two blocks at the same time, which leaves LBs free to come in and make tackles. The best DTs can also help push the pocket on passing downs and cause the QB discomfort. Most DTs have tremendous size and strength and are very tough to move out of the way. The best players also mix in some pass-rushing moves, which allows them to stay on the field for every down. While they may not rack up huge numbers, don’t forget to pay attention to the players doing battle in the trenches on every snap!
