Does No Rest For The Wicked Have Classes? – Class System Explained

Switching it up.

No Rest For The Wicked isn’t your typical ARPG when it comes to its class system. With the early access beginning on April 18, fans have been interested to know more about whether there are classes present in the game. Interestingly enough, Moon Studios has decided to opt for something quite innovative and uncommon.

Does No Rest For The Wicked Have Classes?

Yes, there are classes present in the latest ARPG release, but not in a traditional sense. It does have a soft-class system that doesn’t lock you into a single one at the start of your journey. Instead, you can switch and change whenever you feel like it, and the decision will largely depend on the weapons you yield.

In many ways, this feels like a brilliant implementation on the part of the developers. There are plenty of instances where the class you select at the beginning of a game might not be the one for you. Then, you have to usually start a new save (or rely on a system that could let you respec your character). In No Rest For The Wicked, there’s no need for either, as the weapons you use are a bigger telling factor.

Additionally, the ease of switching classes (by simply switching your gears) allows you to have a different advantage. You can focus on the weakness of a particular boss and choose your weapons accordingly. This will allow you to leverage your enemy’s weakness on the move (by just changing your weapon).

No Rest For The Wicked might be releasing on early access, but that doesn’t mean it will lack a variety of weapons to choose from. So far, Moon Studios has showcased some of the underlying work that they have done to kick off the early access. It will be interesting to find out how many types of weapons are available, and what kind of impact they might have on the gameplay.

Eventually, this game will also be released on consoles, but a date hasn’t been stated officially. There will be plenty of updates in early access, with multiplayer coming in the first major patch.
