There are two classes that can naturally get this spell as players level up – Warlocks and Bards.
- Warlocks can access this spell once they reach Level 5. Hunger of Hadar is one of the eight level 3 spells that are available. Players running a Warlock build can access it quite easily.
- The other class that can get this particular spell is the Bard class. However, the process is slightly harder compared to Warlocks.
- If players have selected the College of Lore, they will get Magical Secrets once reaching Level 6 and again at Level 10. The Hunger of Hadar spell can be selected at either level.
- If players have selected the College of Swords or College of Valor at Level 10, they will get Magical Secrets at Level 10. Once selected, the Hunger of Hadar spell can be selected.
- The legendary quarterstaff Markoheshkir also grants this spell to the yielder.
What Does the Hunger of Hadar Spell do in Baldur’s Gate 3? (BG3)
Hunger of Hadar creates an area, and any enemy present in this region will take damage at the beginning and end of their turns.
- Enemies starting their turn in Hunger of Hadar will take 2d6 cold damage.
- Enemies ending their turn in Hunger of Hadar will take 2d6 acid damage.
- Enemies within the Hunger of Hadar area of effect will be affected by Difficult Terrain and Blindness.
This is a multi-faceted spell that can perform a lot of different tasks benefitting the player. Since it’s a Level 3 spell, players will need to level up before learning. It’s extremely effective if the character being used is a Warlock.
