How to Grow Powdermelon in Stardew Valley (1.6 Update)

A winter delight

Powdermelon is one of the more trickier crops to grow in Stardew Valley. It’s part of all the new content that has been added to the game as part of the 1.6 update. Unlike many other crops, it’s purely seasonal, which makes it slightly harder for you to grow and harvest it in the first place.

Like any crop, Powdermelon also grows from seeds that must first be collected, planted, grown, and then harvested. As stated, the plant is seasonal, and the same applies to the seeds as well. You can find the seeds only during the winter season in game. You’ll need to be on the lookout for grass tufts and artifact spots.

It’s easier to find both on frozen lands, but the two appear very similar. Both artifacts and grass tufts are embedded within the lands and must be unearthed. In my experience, grass tufts have a higher rate of providing seeds including Powdermelon.

Once you have collected the seeds, you can plant them in the plot. You’ll need to wait seven in-game days during the winter for the crop to complete its growth cycle. Once you have harvested the first batch, things get much easier onwards.

You can always use it in the seed maker to get more seeds, which will allow you to grow and harvest more of this crop. Moreover, you won’t have to look out for grass tufts and artifact spots to find more seeds. You can also sell Powdermelon in Stardew Valley for 60 coins, which is a pretty decent return. If you have more buffs, you could end up earning more as well.

The 1.6 update has added plenty of new resources as well, and Moss is relatively hard to find. However, you can always read our guide to find the valuable ingredient easily and use it to craft different items.
