It was a big weekend in New York City with the MLB All Star Game, and there were other ways to enjoy baseball immortality.
2K Sports hosted the final round of the MLB 2K13 Perfect Game Challenge this weekend at the T-Mobile All-Star FanFest in New York, where the final contestants faced off for a huge cash prize. When the dust settled, Oregon resident Justin Chavarria emerged as the overall winner, walking away with $250,000.
Chavarria earned the victory after defeating Brad Holland of Texas using the Texas Rangers to finish off the Oakland A’s in a 3-1 contest.
“This has been a life-changing experience over the last four months,” said Chavarria. “I had a great time competing against the other three finalists during the tournament, and this is a day I’ll never forget.”
2K Sports said that this year’s Perfect Game Challenge was “the most competitive in 2K’s history,” with over 785,000 perfect games recorded and 2,500 games verified.
If you missed your chance, don’t worry. The contest will probably return next year, with MLB 2K14 already in the works.
MLB 2K13 is available now for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
