Following the popular success of the crossover series, Rovio Mobile has officially announced the upcoming Angry Birds Star Wars II. This sequel will focus more on the prequel trilogy, starting with 1999’s Episode I: The Phantom Menace and concluding with Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The game will feature all-new characters this time around, including a pig-like Darth Maul and Yoda bird.

In addition, the game will introduce a new Telepods element, enabling you to activate characters by placing figurines on a portal that connects to your mobile device.  So in a way, it’s like Skylanders, but with Star Wars birds.

There’s no word yet on portal or figurine pricing, but the game is set for release on September 19th for iOS and Android devices.
