Once you get past the main campaign in Last Epoch, the Monoliths of Fate will become your best friend for all your experience or gear needs. To get started, my guide will cover how to access them and what to expect when you get there.
How to Start Monoliths of Fate in Last Epoch
Head to the End of Time after level 50 and move toward the Island in the east to get started on your first Monolith of Fate. You can technically reach the End of Time hub around level 20 during the main campaign, but you will be far too under-leveled to get started on tougher content. The easiest Monolith of Fate in Last Epoch starts at level 58, and it doesn’t get any easier. So I highly recommend finishing all the campaign content up to Chapter 9, and then you can move to end-game challenges.
If you’re already near level 50, just travel to the End of Time and find the bridge to the first Monolith of Fate to the East. This will bring you to a pyramid-like object you can interact with and choose an Echo to complete. Because this is your first Monolith, you only have two Echos to choose from, and they will both be level 58. But even at level 50, I could get past these challenges with no issues at all.
For those of you who succeed, there is plenty of loot to collect. And if you get started at level 50 like I did, then you will earn far more XP than you would have in the campaign at this stage of the game.
How Do Monoliths Work in Last Epoch?
The Monoliths of Fate are a core end-game activity that allows players to complete branching timelines with modifiers for tons of experience and rewards. Each timeline is connected by webs of travel points called Echos. Every single Echo works like a small quest zone and will have differing modifiers. Some can be beneficial for your loot, and others will make the enemies far more dangerous to take on.
After you complete an Echo, the next one on the timeline web gets unlocked, and you can continue completing more missions. Eventually, you will reach the Timeline Boss, which has a Blessing for you to earn and allows you to target the farm in the Last Epoch. Defeat the boss, and you can move on to the next Monolith of Fate or prepare for an Empowered Monolith as you continue to level.
Don’t forget to start earning Favor as you reach the end game section of Last Epoch.
